Rivers

But Puerto Plata not only has beautiful beaches, but also has incredible rivers and puddles such as ¨Los 27 charcos de Damajagua¨

The most precious treasure of Puerto Plata, the waterfalls of the 27 Charcos of Damajagua offer a full day of hiking through thick forests, crossing bridges and discovering the Dominican flora, before reaching the rocky top of a hill from where start your journey down, jumping or sliding through a series of waterfalls. The safety equipment is of mandatory use as you slide through water-cushioned slides, or jump into deep turquoise pools. Most of the tours only offer to take you through seven waterfalls, since arriving at 27 is reserved only for the more adventurous in good physical condition. Led by local guides who live within the community, entrance fees to the park benefit all its residents, which makes it a beneficial situation for all. The park is located approximately one hour from the city of Puerto Plata. If you dare to challenge the 27 puddles, you will be able to do any other adventure in the Dominican Republic!

Also you can see ¨Los charcos de los militares¨ These three waterfalls, nestled in the heart of the green plains of Puerto Plata and completely off the beaten path, flow into deep blue natural pools affectionately called the "Pool of God." Arriving at the waterfalls is part of the adventure, you will walk for an hour along a path in flat and mountainous parts, through old fields of sugarcane, while observing typical scenes of village life in Puerto Plata. The last effort consists of an ascent assisted by an improvised cable that will help you climb a series of rocks that will take you to the Charcos de los Militares, where probably there is nobody but you to enjoy these natural pools. Guided walks to these waterfalls leave from Tubagua Eco Lodge.
